Chemical-free water treatment for industrial laundries
CWS is an international full-service provider of textile and hygiene solutions and a market leader in sustainable, reusable systems. Within its industrial laundries, wastewater treatment plays a crucial role. For multiple locations across Europe, CWS selected the Morselt REDBOX as a solution for chemical-free wastewater treatment.
Challenge
Wastewater from professional laundries contains highly variable and persistent contamination. Traditional treatment processes often rely on chemicals, which does not align with the sustainability ambitions of CWS. The main challenges were:
- Effective treatment of heavily polluted process water
- Completely chemical-free operation
- Maintaining reliability and low operational costs
Solution
Morselt supplied the REDBOX, based on the electrocoagulation process. By applying an electrical charge to the wastewater, contaminants are efficiently separated without the addition of chemicals. The installation was successfully tested in a pilot project at CWS locations in Sweden, where very strict environmental standards apply.
Result
- 100 percent chemical-free wastewater treatment
- Reuse of approximately 30 percent of the treated water in the washing process
- Energy-efficient and stable operation
- Meets and exceeds European environmental standards
After successful implementation in Sweden, the REDBOX was also deployed at the CWS laundry in Solingen, followed by further rollout to other locations in Germany.
Flexible deployment
For locations with limited space, Morselt also supplied a mobile REDBOX solution in a container configuration. This makes the system easily scalable and suitable for both permanent and temporary locations.
