Save costs, even with small volumes of wastewater
Even with small volumes of wastewater, on site treatment can deliver significant cost savings. Our customer mixes paints and dyes for the wood industry. The wash water from mixing installations and tanks was stored in IBCs and periodically disposed of. Despite the relatively limited volume of five to ten IBCs per week, this resulted in high disposal and processing costs.
Challenge
The paint and dye containing wastewater had to be treated safely without dependence on external waste processors. In addition, it was important that the solution was compact, easy to operate and suitable for limited volumes, while maintaining a favourable cost structure.
Solution
Wastewater containing paints and dyes is very well suited for treatment with the RedBox. A laboratory test at Morselt showed that electrocoagulation could effectively remove all contaminants. After treatment, clear, purified water remained that could easily be reused. The contaminants were concentrated into a compact, dry filter cake, resulting in significant savings on disposal costs.
For this application, Morselt built the smallest version, the RedBox 100 all in one. The complete system is housed in a compact, mobile container and was delivered ready for use at the customer’s site. Full IBCs can be connected quickly and the installation can be started at the push of a button.
Via an app, the operator can remotely monitor and, if necessary, adjust the treatment process, ensuring maximum ease of use and control.
Result
With the use of the RedBox 100, the customer has a compact and efficient treatment solution. Wastewater disposal has been significantly reduced, water reuse is possible and operational costs are substantially lower. RedBox offers more than water treatment alone and helps companies reduce costs and structurally improve their environmental performance.
